Remembering one of the finest men I know...uncle Joe!
Hubby finding his uncle Joe's engraved name on the wall.
Where the Lions Rest
By Oscar Thomasson , March 4, 2011
Of all the monuments engraved in stone,
there is one that comes very close to home.
A simple stone wall honoring some of America's best,
on a piece of sacred ground, where the lions rest.
A sister, a brother, a husband or wife,
honored here because they gave their life.
Having passed the warriors final test,
on a piece of sacred ground, where the lions rest.
Behind a shield taking a stand,
to bring justice and order to our blessed land.
A brave heart once beat in their breast,
on a piece of sacred ground, where the lions rest.
Now they walk a quieter beat
Where evil has already seen its defeat
May they spend eternity among the blessed,
on a piece of sacred ground, where the lions rest!
Uncle Joe joins the 19,298 fallen law enforcement officers on the National Memorial wall in DC.
